I DON’T WANT TO DO IT MY WAY

Whenever there’s a problem, or some trouble anywhere,
The first thing I’m inclined to do is talk to God in prayer.

I tell the Lord the problem, and I pray He’ll right the wrong,
But then I feel it’s up to me to help the Lord along.

As if fenced in, I plunge ahead to open up the gate,
And find it hard to listen when the Lord tells me to wait.

I tell myself I know the Lord is able for the task,
And if He needed help from me, I’m sure that He would ask,

But still I run full speed ahead, and sometimes harm’s been done
Because I’ve tried to fix things and not listened to God’s Son.

I know the Lord will work all things together for the best,
And He wants me to pray and trust and let Him do the rest,

So when I want to dominate, and jump into the fray,
I pray I’ll give God full control, and let Him have His way.
