OUR SPECIAL CHILD by Betty Jo Mings We prayed for God to bless you as we waited for your birth, And dreamed of all the happy times we’d share upon this earth. We’ve loved you from the moment you were placed within our arms, And wanted to protect you from the world and all its harms. They told us you had problems, and that no one was to blame, But to us it didn’t matter, for we loved you just the same. You bless us when you smile at us, and when you hug us tight, And we have tried to comfort you and take away your fright. But still it breaks our hearts to see you struggle just to please, And do a very simple task that others do with ease. Yet when you can accomplish it, we’re just so proud of you, And love you twice as much because of all that you’ve been through. We know that you’re a special angel sent to bless us here, And so we thank the Lord for you, our angel we hold dear.
