'Twas Days Before Christmas

‘TWAS DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS

‘Twas days before Christmas when all through the town,
Any mention of Jesus was met with a frown.
The buyers in malls seemed to go overboard,
While charging rich gifts which they couldn’t afford.

The stores were all decked out in fancy array,
But no “Merry Christmas” did any clerk say.
For they mustn’t offend those who didn’t believe,
And they couldn’t care less if it made Christians grieve.

There were plenty of Santas with reindeer that fly,
In parks and town squares to attract passers-by.
But the reason for Christmas was hidden from view,
For no manger scenes told the story so true.

This country was founded on God’s Holy Word,
But many, God’s story of love haven’t heard.
So Lord, give me courage to share with the lost,
The true meaning of Christmas, and how much it cost

God’s Son to leave Heaven, to die for our sin,
So we could be pardoned, and made pure within.
Please help our great country return to the days
When Christmas existed to give Jesus praise.
