GRAVEYARDS

We used to see graveyards beside every church,
So members could bury their dead.
Each church was alive with the message of Christ,
As for the lost sinners they pled.
We now see huge buildings of marble and glass,
With rich chandeliers for their light.
The churches all strive to appeal to the crowd,
But most have no graveyards in sight.
Could it be that the graveyards that once were outside,
Are now all residing within;
Where pleasure-prone people who think they're alive,
Sit dead in trespasses and sin?
Most folks want a church that will make them feel good,
With sermons not meant to condemn;
Instead of an outreach to lost souls in need,
Their programs all focused within.
Dear Lord, take us back to the old fashioned days,
And help the old message to thrive.
As You bury our sins in Your graveyards of time,
Keep our churches on fire, and alive.
