LORD, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE ME LEARN FROM THIS?

Long years ago a wise old man
Taught me, when life is not all bliss,
And trials come, I should say, “Lord,
What would You have me learn from this?”

Much time has passed, with loads of tears
I truly would have liked to miss,
Yet through them all I still said, “Lord, 
What would You have me learn from this?”

The Lord has taught me many things, 
And what I’ve learned I can’t dismiss.
Yet I’ve learned most when I said, “Lord,
What would You have me learn from this?”

I hope that when your life seems on
The edge of a great precipice,
You’ll learn to stop and ask the Lord,
“What would You have me learn from this?”
