THE BEST IS YET TO BE
I’ve had some banner days in life that live in memory.
Somehow they seemed to be a special gift from God above.
At times I thought my heart would burst with joy and happiness,
For I felt like a queen who was surrounded by God’s love.
I think of when I married my sweetheart and dearest friend,
And tingled with excitement at our first ‘just married’ kiss.
I gazed upon his loving face as we were joined as one,
And I was thinking, "nothing could surpass the joy of this!"
But when my new-born babes were cradled safe upon my breast,
And I beheld the miracles the Lord had given me,
I thought my heart would overflow with pride and thankfulness,
As motherhood was all and more I ever thought ‘twould be.
I’m sure that I’ve been blessed far more than many folks have been,
And love from my grandchildren has just added to the score.
But knowing that my Savior died to pay for all my sins,
Has made me wonder – who could ask for more?
And yet I know the things on earth that seem so wonderful,
Will not survive the test of time and all eternity.
And I’m assured a greater joy awaits on Heaven’s shore,
Where I’ve been promised that the best is yet to be!
