STRENGTH FROM THE LORD

I watched a dear friend suffer through
A deep and painful loss so great,
I wondered how she could survive
Such trauma from the hand of fate.

Yet through it all she still could smile,
In spite of all her falling tears,
And when I asked how this could be,
How she could overcome her fears,

She said the Lord has promised strength
For every day, if we just wait;
It’s there when e’er we need it most.
It’s right on time, and never late.

Sometimes in fear I fail to trust,
And worry for what lies ahead.
I see the dark clouds looming o’er,
And I succumb to doubt and dread.

But when I read God’s Word and pray,
His soothing balm pervades my life,
And I’m assured His hand will guide,
To help me through each pain and strife.

Yet still I seek to trust the Lord,
In all of life's uncertainty;
To use His strength for each new day,
For what He plans is best for me.
