TEARS ON FATHER’S DAY

TEARS ON FATHER’S DAY

She never can forget the years of childhood night-time dread,
When knowing she was never safe as she would go to bed.
For often she would wake with fear when Dad sneaked thru her door,
And told her that he loved her, as abuse would start once more.

He threatened her with violence if she would ever tell,
And so her stolen childhood dreams became a living Hell.
When finally she had the nerve to tell her Mom her shame,
Instead of comfort, she was told that she bore all the blame.

And so, as soon as possible, she ran away from home,
To search for love she’d never known, as thru the streets she’d roam;
Until one day she went inside a Mission to stay warm,
And found much more than sustenance and shelter from the storm.

She learned that Jesus died to pay the price for all her sin,
And Heaven could be hers if she’d repent and ask Him in.
She joined a church, and found true love in her church family,
And when she could forgive her parents, she was finally free.

She also learned that Jesus had a purpose for her life,
And someone “who had been there” could help others in their strife.
So now she has a ministry to those who can’t forgive,
For not until forgiveness comes can people really live.

Her Mom and Dad no longer live, but still sad mem’ries rise
On Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, when tears might dim her eyes.
She’s thankful Jesus saved her soul and wrote her name above,

But mostly she is thankful for her Heavenly Father’s love.
