TO ROWLAND ON FATHER'S DAY

TO ROWLAND ON FATHER'S DAY

When just a child I knew what I would like to be in life.
I wanted to have children, and to be a loving wife.
But I wanted for my children something I had never had...
And I prayed they'd know the blessing of a warm and caring Dad.
I asked for someone good and kind, deserving of respect,
To love and guide those children so they'd never know neglect.

God answered not just what I prayed, but all I could desire;
Fulfilling all the lofty goals to which I did aspire.
He sent a precious Husband, and a special Father too,
A beautiful example of a Dad I never knew.
And so, this Father's Day my heart o'erflows with joy and praise,
As I thank God for how He's blessed me in so many ways.

Thank you, my darling Rowland, for the things that you have done
To set a good example by exalting God's dear Son.
Thank you for being Christ like in the things you do each day,
Your tender heart so open as you read the Word and pray.
I don't know why God favored me so much by sending you,
But I will always love Him and be grateful that it's true.
