A NEW FAMILY FRIEND

A NEW FAMILY FRIEND

I met someone at work one day
While waiting for the day to end,
And when that person spoke of Christ,
I knew I’d finally found a friend.

For years I’d felt so all alone,
When others mocked my strong belief,
And now the Lord had sent someone
To help me cope, and bring relief.

It’s funny how a stranger who
Is part of God’s vast family,
Feels like a loving relative –
For in our Lord we all agree.

And soon I found the ones who’d mocked
And laughed, as inwardly I grieved,
Were watching close to see if I
Would truly live what I believed.

They started asking questions, and
They really seemed to want to know
The reason why my friend and I
Seemed to possess a special glow.

We shared the love of Christ with them,
And gradually some thoughts were changed,
As Jesus came and took control,
And many lives were rearranged.

So now we’re thankful for a place
Where we can work with joy each day,
And know the Lord would have us show
His love in all we do and say.
