WHAT IF?
You tell me I’m wrong to believe in the Lord,
And you say when our earth days are done,
Since there’s no after-life, and no Heaven or Hell,
We should live just for riches and fun.
But what if I followed the things you believe,
And lived just for pleasure and greed?
And what if I never attended a church,
Or helped anyone with a need?
I’d never experience all of the joy
I feel when I meet God in prayer.
I’d not know the peace that the Bible provides,
When on Jesus I cast all my care.
I’d not know the comfort of having my sins
Forgiven, because Jesus died;
And being assured that in Heaven some day
A mansion for me He’ll provide.
So what if you’re wrong when you breathe your last breath,
And you stand before God’s judgment throne?
When because you have scoffed at the Giver of Life,
You reap all the bad seed you’ve sown?
I pray you will think of the choices you’ve made --
Then ask Jesus to cleanse you from sin.
Your name will be written in God’s Book of Life,
And in Heaven new life will begin.
