THE LORD HEARS OUR HEARTS

THE LORD HEARS OUR HEARTS

How can I tell you how much I love Jesus?
How can I show you the grace He bestows?
How can I thank Him for saving my soul from
A lifetime of sinning that only He knows?

How can I praise Him for all of His blessings?
Why can’t my tongue find the right words to say?
Why does it seem I’m struck dumb in His presence,
Finding no eloquent words when I pray?

I listen to others who pray with such passion –
Their beautiful words a sweet balm to the King,
While none of my words seem to mirror my feelings,
And none bear the message I’m longing to bring.

But I read in the Bible that words aren’t important;
For the Lord hears the thoughts that abide in each heart.
And He knows, without words, how we’re longing to serve Him,
When we whisper His Name – from the world draw apart.

So I’ll not be ashamed I can’t pray like the experts,
And I’ll trust that the Lord doesn’t find my words vain.
I’ll continue to love Him, and bask in His presence,
As long as my soul on this earth shall remain.
