HOW IT USED TO BE
There’s much that can be said about the age in which we live.
Technology with rapid progress has a lot to give.
Yet still I look nostalgically at how it was back then,
And wish we could recapture some of our good manners when ---

A woman loved her womanhood, and femininity,
And loved the men who treated her with simple courtesy.
She liked to have them open doors -- be careful not to swear,
And bring her flowers and candy as a token of their care.

They asked her out on dates because they liked her company,
And if they didn’t have much cash -- found places that were free.
They didn’t think that every date would end up in their bed,
And were content to wait for sex till after they were wed.

And when a woman found her man, she loved with all her heart,
And gave him faith and loyalty till death tore them apart.
You say I’m just old fashioned, and you scoff and laugh at me,
But still I wish we could return to how it used to be.
