Psalm 89: 11

The heavens are Thine, the earth also is Thine:
as for the world and the fullness thereof, Thou
hast founded them.

I WORRIED

I worried because my small savings were dwindling,
And how could I ever expect to retire?
The boss at my workplace was laying off workers.
Would I be the next one he needed to fire?

Then how could I possibly manage the mortgage,
And all of the bills that were piling up high?
And what if it turned out I came down with cancer?
Or even Swine Flu that caused many to die?

I worried each time that I heard a news broadcast,
For all of the news they reported was bad.
With trillions of dollars of debt in this country,
We’ll never return to the life we once had!

And what of the killings and crimes that are rampant?
Abortions, and sex that is out of control?
Our children subjected to drugs and school shootings,
With cheating and bribery taking their toll?

I worried we’d soon be a socialist country,
With Big Brother telling us what we should do.
We’d lose ev’ry privilege our forefathers died for,
No freedom to worship as we wanted to.

But then I looked out at the flowers in the meadow,
And saw all the birds flying high in the sky.
I thought how the Lord watches over His creatures;
Not even a sparrow escapes from His eye.

Dear Lord, please forgive me for my needless worry,
For You’ve promised to love and to care for Your own.
You’ve told me to cast all my burdens upon You;
Then I will have peace that the world has not known.
