MY PRECIOUS GRANDCHILD
You see me and come running with your little arms outstretched,
And climb into my lap for our sweet time of joy to share.
You tell me that you love me as I kiss your dear, soft cheeks,
And pray the Lord will always keep you safely in His care.

I love you with a passion only Grandmas understand,
And selfishly would like to keep you just the way you are.
But every day you grow a bit, and learn as God has planned,
And I’m convinced you surely will go far.

So I’ve decided to enjoy each accomplishment,
And when you’re too big for my lap, your cheek I still will kiss.
I’ll hug you close, and tell you just how much you mean to me,
And thank the Lord for all the joy I’m glad I didn’t miss.
