MY TEARS OF JOY

I’ve shed a lot of teardrops as I’ve journeyed through my life,
And suffered many heartaches and a lot of fears and strife.

But the tears that I remember most, and those that stand apart,
Were the tears of deep emotion from a touched and grateful heart.

Sweet tears of radiant joy filled my eyes when as a bride,
I pledged to love forever my dear sweetheart at my side.

And when I held my little babes, created from our love,
The happy tears rolled down my cheeks as I thanked God above.

I cried when they went off to school, and as I watched them grow
I savored all the joyous times a mother’s heart could know.

Sometimes they brought me special gifts in their sweet childish way,
And as they showed their love for me, my tears weren’t far away.

So many blessed memories were often wrapped in tears,
And they are precious to me as I look back through the years.

I’ve read there’ll be no tears in Heaven on that golden shore,
And there will be no sorrow as we praise God evermore.

But I expect my tears of joy will fall again that day,
When Jesus wraps me in His arms, and wipes them all away.
