AS WE WATCH EACH OTHER

I watch him as he stretches truth,

And only shares what he wants folks to know.

He feels that he has earned the right

To reach the place he most aspires to go.

When he is given too much change,

He laughs and says it is his lucky day.

He pads all his expense accounts,

And says his worth deserves some extra pay.

I find that I am questioning

The things he says, as well as what I see.

For if he lies to someone else,

How can I know he'll tell the truth to me?

But then I realize that he

Is also watching all the things I do.

Have I brought honor to the Lord?

And has he found my words and deeds are true?

Do actions show what I believe?

And has he seen God's love revealed in me?

If I should share my faith with him,

Would he then question my integrity?

My precious Lord died for my sins,

And with His blood He washed them all away.

And I am praying that my friend

Will trust in Christ and follow Him today.

I pray as my friend watches me,

My life will point the way to Heaven's gate,

And that he'll come to know the Lord

And find new life before it is too late.
